First Day on the Mountain...
Well what a first day that was!! Bormio town hasn't had snow since November 2022 and yet when we wake up to go skiing it is snowing. Looking out of the windows of the Vila Rina when we woke up and seeing snow falling, everywhere covered in a lovely dusting of snow, you couldn't have asked for a better start to the week.
Up the mountain we met the instructors for the week and the snow is getting heavier. Lessons started at 9am and off we go. The advanced and intermediate groups combined and off they wen to explore the new light layer of powder. The beginners start the slow but hugely important process of learning the basics.
By lunch the cloud has gone, the sun is out, and the temperature has climbed into the mid teens. it's hot, not great for the snow but makes for lovely conditions to learn, jackets off, sun cream on and spirits are high.
An evening of unpacking and relaxing in the hotel followed by a well deserved sleep and an extra half an hour in bed tomorrow morning.
As the course leader it has been amazing to see how respectful and responsible the group have been. A credit to themselves and William Farr so far.
