Governors' Information Evening

Invitation to attend the Governors' Information Evening on 27 March 2023

Dear Parents, Carers and Friends

Much of the life of William Farr School is sustained by the support of parents, carers and friends like you, who volunteer to see that our students get the best start in learning for ‘life in all its fulness’.  Amongst those volunteers are the School Governors, who support the Headteacher and school staff in the life of the school by acting as ‘critical friends’ and helping them plan and carry through the strategic vision, values and direction of our school.

There has been a good number of you who have expressed interest in finding out a bit more about what it means to be a Governor.  To that end, I am writing this letter to invite you to an open information evening to explore exactly what governors do and how we share in the life of the school.

We will be holding such an evening on Monday 27 March at the school. It will start at 6.00pm and finish promptly at no later than 7.00pm. I should stress that this is an information evening and not a hard sell recruitment drive. We would be delighted if you would come and find out what governance entails. It is certainly a responsible volunteer job, but it is not terribly arduous and may not be nearly as time consuming as some people think it is.

The format for the evening will be very simple. There will be some introductions, a short Powerpoint presentation about the work governors do, a chance to informally meet some of the governors and the opportunity to ask questions about what it all entails. There are no strings attached in attending, but if you think you might be interested, it would be lovely to see you. Do give it some good thought and come along if you think you would like to know more.

If you are interested in attending and to give us an idea of the numbers, please can you e-mail our Clerk, Mrs Elderkin, on: S.Elderkin@williamfarr.lincs.sch.uk.

I hope to see some of you there on 27 March.

With every good wish

Jeffrey Heskins
Chair of Governors
