TITLE: AQA Level 3 Advanced GCE in Drama and Theatre (601/8494/2)
Why study Drama at William Farr?
You will be taught by highly qualified and experienced teachers in a supportive environment in a purpose-built drama studio. The course is led by Mrs Jones who trained at the Royal Central School of Speech.
What will you study?
- Drama and theatre 40% (Written Exam)
You will study two set text (“Hedda Gabler” and “Our Country’s Good”) and review Live Theatre.
- Creating original drama 30% (NEA)
You will devise your own performance from a stimulus using the methodologies of your chosen practitioner and complete a 3000-word working notebook about the process.
- Making theatre 30%
You will perform three scripted extracts from three different plays. Extract 3 is performed to an external examiner using the methodologies of another chosen practitioner. You will also complete a 3000-word reflective log.
In the practical components students may specialise in performing, lighting, sound, set, costume, puppets and/or directing.
Where can Drama lead?
Our Alumni are currently studying degree level courses at Bird, Emil Dale and Addict.
Past Alumni have also trained at Rose Bruford, Laine, Italia Conti, E15, Trinty Laban, Manchester School of Acting, EPA, Oxford and other Rusell Group Universities in a variety of fields. In addition, our Alumni are also currently working professionally as actors, playwrights, film makers, set, sound and lighting designers and technicians and makeup artists alongside others in a vast range of careers including law, the police, politics and teaching.
