Day 3 - October 19

We started day 3 after breakfast with a guided tour of the State of Hermitage Museum which is one of the world's largest and most prestigious museums with over 3 million items in it's collection.  The bulk of these were housed in the Winter Palace, formerly the official residence of the Romanov Tzars, which we enjoyed exploring.

After lunch on the Nevsky Prospect, we set off for the Political History Museum, which is where the Bolsheviks planned the October Revolution, and is the location of Lenin's study, and the balcony from which he addressed the workers of St Petersburg.  We had a delicious dinner at the Hotel St Petersburg and ended the day with a marvellous performance of the Swan Lake ballet.
