William Farr Year 13 Leavers’ Day is an ongoing tradition at our school for students to celebrate their journey, by putting on activities and celebrating with their year group and the rest of the school. The day is also centred around raising as much money for the chosen charities the year group voted to support. This year, back in May, the students chose Rhys’s Donation Foundation and School Friends as their charities to raise money for. Activities consisted of sweets stall, face paint, ice cream parlour, mock tail bar and bouncy castles as part of their Disney ‘Farr Farr’ Away theme.
We felt that RDF charity was the best cause for us to support seeing as many students knew Rhys as children. On the day we managed to raise a grand total of £1620.50; and today we handed over the money to RDF trustees, a phenomenal amount which we hope will help those families and children who have an ongoing battle with cancer.
