On the 28th November, William Farr hosted the first stage of the MACE debate competition. Franki Phillips and Phil Gale were the speakers for William Farr, with Carina Williamson and Sophie Broadbent acting as Chair and timekeeper. The issue they debated was whether the wearing of religious symbols should be banned in the public sector and they argued the proposition against King Edwards grammar school's team. They came first with 149 points, Lincoln Minster school came second and neither of the grammar schools got through to the next round. Hopefully we will have the same success in the next round!
